At the February 3 Aspen Highlands Rocky Mountain Qualifier Series moguls competition, the SSWSC freestyle moguls team proved they could stay focused and overcome challenges. Teamwork, courage, and support helped the team fight through a difficult training day and course conditions at Aspen Highlands on Thunderbowl.
February 3-5, 16 athletes from the Snowboard Devo Team raced Boardercross at Copper Mountain. Of the 16 athletes, seven were racing for the first time. Ellie Bennett was the youngest competitor out there all weekend at just six years old.
The Freestyle Moguls Team competed in Winter Park February 3-4 in the Rocky Mountain Freestyle competition, Winter Heat in Winter Park. The competition took place on the famed Ambush course. Mother nature provided pelting snow all day Saturday, which resulted in huge powder bumps for two single mogul events.
Coach Andy Biglow puts the fun in fundamentals. The team worked on some turn shape, as well as body position, specifically getting more forward in the boot, pushing the shin into the boot, hockey stops, and working on upper-lower body separation all while exploring Steamboat Ski Resort!
Steamboat Springs Winter Sport Club hosted the U16 Sync Cup alpine races on Steamboat Ski Resort January 26-28. The U16 alpine team was ecstatic to host and compete on their home hill, and the success of the races was made possible by the invaluable contribution of parents and volunteers. The challenging courses and tough competition provided a thrilling experience for all involved.
