The U16 Alpine Team wrapped up their travel season with the GS Campbell Cup at Vail, April 6 - 7, 2025—one of the final races of the season. It was a bittersweet weekend, filled with sunshine, fun, and even a few cow costumes!
SSWSC U10/U12 athletes finished their age class race season in style at the traditional season end April GS Spectacular in Keystone April 5-6 and Loveland Derby slalom races April 12-13. With competitive and regional fields, SSWSC skiers shined in both festive events.
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) had a strong presence at the IFSH Junior Freeride Championships, with seven athletes competing: Reid Graham (U15 Snowboard Male), Jayla McGlone (U15 Snowboard Female), Riley McNew (U19 Snowboard Female), Vander Zuck, Branigan Murphy, Banks Ward (U15 Ski Male), and Ryan Montgomery (U19 Ski Male). Two SSWSC alumni also qualified—Ellie Reynolds (U19 Ski Female) and Gavin Murphy (U19 Ski Male). This marked Ellie's fourth invite and Riley's second appearance at Junior Freeride Championships.
The Winter Park Spring Series wrapped up last weekend with two slalom races on April 5-6, 2025. Athletes tackled the steep courses of Winter Park under sunny skies and spring snow conditions
Four U16 athletes represented the SSWSC at U16 Nationals this past March 31-April 5 at Sugarloaf in Maine. Those athletes were- Schuyler Biglow, Molly Fretwell, Pthalo Plomteux and Soren Shepherd (Isabella Konescny qualified but did not compete). The athletes competed against the best U16 ski racers in the country in super-g, giant slalom, slalom and skills quest down the infamous Narrow Gauge Race Trail, one of the most challenging trails on the East Coast.
