SSWSC Hosts U16 Sync Cup - Caley Goforth Skis into 2nd Place in Slalom Race
Steamboat Springs Winter Sport Club hosted the U16 Sync Cup alpine races on Steamboat Ski Resort January 26-28. The U16 alpine team was ecstatic to host and compete on their home hill, and the success of the races was made possible by the invaluable contribution of parents and volunteers. Their dedication, support, and time were crucial to the event’s smooth execution. The challenging courses and tough competition provided a thrilling experience for all involved. Additionally, some U14 athletes seized the opportunity to measure themselves against their older counterparts.

The athletes showcased outstanding performances in both giant slalom and slalom events. Notable results include Caley Goforth securing a remarkable second place in one of the women’s slalom races. In the Women’s GS Race, Goforth continued her success, finishing in an impressive fourth place. Rewani Shrestha displayed consistent excellence, securing the 6th position in both of the women’s slalom races and the 9th position in the GS race. Bella Fisher stayed consistent as well with a 10th and 14th place in theslalom races and a solid 8th place in the GS. In the Men’s events, Matthew Kafka led the team with a 7th place finish in the GS. Koda Kiser demonstrated consistency achieving 11th and 10th place in the men’s slalom races. Leo Orton finished with a solid 16th in the GS, and 12th place in the first slalom, while Schuyler Biglow finished 18th in the GS and 13th in one of the slalom events. The team as a whole performed admirably and utilized these races as an opportunity to push their boundaries and take some risks to see what they were capable of. The coaches are proud of these achievements and grateful for the collaborative effort that made the event a memorable success.
