U8 Meisters, 2 & 3 Day, ages 6-7

U8 2-Day Meister (U8 2D Meister)

U8 2-Day Meister is an exciting program that incorporates alpine skiing and cross country (XC) skiing with an exploration of nordic jumping on cross country and alpine skis. Cross country skiing has the unique ability to develop balance, weight transfer, ankle flexion and so much more that help create a solid foundation of skills. As a club, SSWSC has the unique opportunity to offer all disciplines at one location at Howelsen Hill. Cross country days will include nordic jumping on cross country and alpine skis, fun games, obstacle courses, maybe even a chairlift ride. Alpine days will focus on fundamental skills and all-mountain skiing. This program is recommended for children interested in ski jumping and nordic combined. Register by September 15 to ensure a place in this program.

Requirements
  • Skill Requirement: Some alpine skiing experience that allows for skiing on green and easy blue runs. Must be able to link turns and stop on alpine gear. No prior cross country experience needed.
  • Equipment: Fish scale waxless, classic cross country skis, classic ski boots, classic ski poles. Alpine skis & boots, helmet (no poles to start the seaso

  • Passes: Participants must have a full IKON pass and a Howelsen Hill ALPINE & NORDIC PASS (Combined).
  • Age: 6-7. U8 Skiers MUST be 6 years old by December 31, 2024 (AGE GROUP GUIDELINES)

Cross Country/Jump: Tuesday, 4:15-5:45 p.m. at Howelsen Hill
Alpine: Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Steamboat Resort

NOTE: Some training will be held at Howelsen Hill instead of Steamboat Resort.
Saturday, December 7 at Howelsen Hill, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 1-3 p.m. (please keep all day open as we won’t assign times until the week before training starts!)
POMA TRAUMA/U8 Fest - January 11 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Saturday, February 8 - Winter Carnival Night Extravaganza, no daytime training
Saturday, March 8 at Howelsen Hill, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

No Training December 23 - January 5, February 20 or 22.

2024-2025 Program Fee

2024-2025 Program Fee: $1,270 plus $150 refundable work deposit

  • Payment Plan: SSWSC offers multiple payment options for summer, winter, and year-round program fees. Credit cards, eCheck (ACH bank transfer), cash, and checks are all accepted. We also offer a payment plan option. Find more information HERE.

  • Work Deposit Program: SSWSC requires a work deposit for each family. During the registration process, the program fee listed includes the work deposit. Families can earn back the work deposit by volunteering for SSWSC or opt out of volunteering and donate the work deposit to SSWSC. Find more information on the Work Deposit Program HERE.

  • Ride the SSWSC Bus: SSWSC offers after-school bus transportation from Steamboat Springs public schools to Howelsen Hill for SSWSC elementary and middle school athletes, 1st through 8th grades, on their scheduled training days. U8 3-Day Meister (U8 3D)


U8 3-Day Meister program is an exciting program that incorporates two days of alpine skiing and one day of cross country skiing (XC) and Nordic Jumping. Cross country skiing has the unique ability to develop balance, weight transfer, ankle flexion and so much more that help create a solid foundation of skills. As a club, SSWSC has the ability to offer all disciplines at one location. XC days will include nordic jumping on cross country and alpine skis, fun games, obstacle courses, maybe even a chairlift ride. Alpine days will focus on fundamental skills, possibly hitting the nordic jumps, gliding on Mile Run, riding the poma lift, skiing skill courses, and bumping and jumping in the mini mogul course. Register by September 15 to ensure a place in this program

U8 Howelsen Howlers

New to the U8 lineup last season, U8 Howelsen Howlers is a two-evening weekday-only program for athletes interested in exploring the fundamentals of alpine, cross-country, and ski jumping with an emphasis on fun. Athletes will train one evening of alpine skiing and one evening of cross country skiing and alpine jumping. Cross country skiing has the unique ability to develop balance, weight transfer, ankle flexion, and so much more that help create a solid foundation of skills. Athletes will play and explore on cross country classic fish scale gear one day a week and rip around on alpine gear the rest of the time. XC days will include nordic jumping on their XC and alpine skis, fun games, obstacle courses, maybe even a chairlift ride. Alpine days will focus on fundamental skills, gliding on Mile Run, riding the poma lift, skiing skill courses, bumping and jumping in the mini mogul course. Register by September 15 to ensure a place in this program
