Cross Country U14
New for this summer is a U14 Mini-Camp. This is a three day camp that introduces the U14 athlete to the variety of training forms that make up dryland training for the cross country athlete: hiking, running, roller skiing, and strength. A good fitness base is suggested for participation in the camp. This can be accomplished by enrolling in SSWSC summer programming options such as mountain biking (page 2), trampoline (page 11) and FunFit (page 14), to stay active and healthy. Using the summer to sample these programs is ideal for the physical development of a cross country skier to learn important skills such as balance, agility, coordination, strength, endurance and confidence, while enjoying the outdoors. Running and/or hiking, field sports, or any physically active opportunity, is highly encouraged for these athletes.
Required equipment: Bike helmet, skate roller skis, skate length poles with roller ski tips, light weight gloves, a neon shirt, water bottle, day pack and running shoes.
*Team roller skis and poles can be borrowed for these two sessions.
