Four SSWSC U16 Alpine Team athletes—Logan Grosdidier, Caley Goforth, Bella Fisher, and Mathew Kafka — qualified to compete in the U16 National Championship in Vail, Colorado, from March 31 to April 4. After a week of racing, Logan Grosdidier emerged as the undisputed victor, taking home gold in all four timed events and seventh in the SkillsQuest Assessment.
Thirty-six SSWSC Snowboard Team athletes competed in the 2024 USASA Nationals last week. Athletes from SSWSC ranged in age from 7 to 26 and competed in halfpipe, slopestyle, rail jam, boardercross, slalom, or giant slalom from March 30 to April 4, 2024, at Copper Mountain. Madden Matuga was 1st place overall Nationals Champ for Ruggie Boys (7-8), Bridger Eavenson was 7th overall for Ruggie Boys (7-8), and Summit Lynch was 6th overall for Menehune Boys (11-12).
Three freeski athletes, Ellie Reynolds, Mason Stewart, and Oscar Dalzell, and two snowboard athletes, Riley McNew and Cooper Malia, will compete in the events on April 11-14, 2024, in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Nine SSWSC alpine snowboard athletes qualified for the USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain—Sam Carpenter, Walker Overstake, Mike Smith, Tag Carr, Nick Pierce, Zubair Lone, Owen McAllister, Cecelia Jones, and Linda Jechova. SSWSC athletes had a strong week.
Women’s alpine team athlete Kat Cosby wins giant slalom and is 2nd in slalom at Springs Series in Winter Park. Alumnus Trey Seymour wins giant slalom. Multiple U18 podiums and top 10 finishes. Kahlen White wraps up her last race and CONGRATULATIONS to the Seymour family, Chase and Trey wrap up their ski careers and off to their next adventure.
