10th Anniversary Slash & Burn Banked Slalom

2024 will forever be known as the year of the 10th Anniversary of Slash & Burn Banked Slalom! This is it, year 10! The first event came to life in 2014 with a collaboration between the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Powder Tools, and now today, it is all grown up and is one of the biggest banked slalom events in the U.S. This event has been bringing together the best in the industry along with the best riders in the world, celebrating the entire snowboard community! We expect the largest and best field ever this year, so sign up early and get fired up to celebrate the big anniversary!
General rules for the event:
- Respect Gets Respect! It’s a privilege that we’re able to have an event of this scale at Steamboat Resort. Please keep in mind that we’re not the only people enjoying the Resort. We’re all looking to have a good time - please be kind/courteous to the Steamboat Resort staff, locals, and visitors at the same time.
- Two runs, fastest run counts. Results are posted for the first run. After that, times are sealed, only to be released at the awards and posted at the after party. This includes the switch race.
- No re-runs, unless the jury deems appropriate for interference or timing.
- Riders must properly go around each gate - the entire board most travel to the outside of each gate. Missed gate = disqualification for that run.
- NO boardercross boards, alpine boards, or hard boots.
- HELMETS are REQUIRED.
- Go hard or go harder.

Sunday, March 24 - GROM RACE DAY hosted by SSWSC
8:00-9:00am - Last Grom check-in at Powder Tools Board Shop
8:30am - Christie lift opens
9:00-9:30am - Course inspection/slip
9:30-10:00am - Practice on course in Bashor race arena - Each participant will receive 1 practice run
10:15am - Race begins!

3:00pm - Awards at Gondola Square Stage
Super podium spots and prizes will be given, plus a raffle. Raffle includes a chance to win a free snowboard from Powdertools! Must be 17 or younger and must be present to win.

2024 race registration is closed
Grom Pro is for riders ages 13-17, plus any younger riders looking for a more competitive race with bigger prizes! Grom rookie is for riders ages 12 and under. Riders under 18 but who compete at the highest levels of the sport may choose to register for the adult race, but cannot do both, and are reminded that the adult day has adult activities that may not be appropriate for all riders.
Refund policy: Full refunds (less the Eventbrite fee) will be offered for any pulls made before March 13 at 4:00pm. Email us to request a refund. No refunds will be offered after March 13 for any reason.
