SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: SSWSC Liman Mountain Center

We are excited to announce that through a generous donation from Les and Linda Liman/Twin Enviro Services, SSWSC has purchased space at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort in the Torian Plum Building. This new facility will be named the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Liman Mountain Center (SSWSC LMC)!

I’m sure most of you know that we have operated at Howelsen Hill since 1914 and at the Steamboat Ski Resort since its operations commenced in the early ‘60s. We work closely with the City of Steamboat Springs to coordinate various facilities, offices, infrastructure, and operations at Howelsen. This supports not only SSWSC programming but the whole community at various times. We do the same with Steamboat Ski Resort and have continued to improve our on-hill venues for training and events with their deep dedication to our partnership. However, there has been a longstanding need strategically and operationally to have dedicated space to support our extensive program operations, training, and instruction at Steamboat Ski Resort.

The SSWSC MLC will be a huge benefit to SSWSC athletes, coaches, programs, and events, and we will be offering additional programming to parents and the public as well. We will be working with our leadership team and staff on finalizing an operational plan for the 2023-2024 winter season. The facility will be used mostly as it is for this winter season and exclusively as an instructional space to support programming. Right from the start, we want to emphasize that Torian Plum is not a pickup or drop-off location for athletes. This will be further clarified in our transportation/transit and program/team plans going into the season.

Stay tuned for more details on the grand opening of the SSWSC Mountain Learning Center.
