Snowboard Senior Team Competes in USASA Half Pipe Competition at Copper Mountain

Snowboard Senior Team Competes in USASA Half Pipe Competition at Copper Mountain
Six athletes across three snowboard programs headed to Copper Mountain on Sunday, February 11, 2024, to compete in the first halfpipe competition in the region this season. Steamboat Resort’s new 22-foot superpipe offered a great training ground to help athletes prepare for the competition. Senior Team’s Zoe Gerke was competing in USASA for the first time. While she was the only one in her age group, she didn’t let this influence her performance; she remained calculated on Run 1, showing the judges her amplitude in the pipe. After receiving a solid score, she decided to incorporate tricks for Run 2, showing judges multiple 360s while keeping her same amplitude that impressed them in the first run. Her Run 2 score increased by over 10 points. Steamboat ended the day with one gold, one bronze, and one 4th place finish. The event wrapped up around 2 p.m., making sure athletes had plenty of time to get home to watch the Super Bowl! Athletes will have another chance to compete in halfpipe this season at Steamboat Resort on March 3.
