Pro-Am Race (PAR) (ages high school +)

Pro-Am Snowboard Race is an intensive snowboard race program. Pro-Am race athletes have a desire to compete at the biggest events and reach the peak of snowboard racing both nationally and internationally. Specific attention is given to each athlete in designing and implementing a realistic competitive schedule to maximize performance and improve points. All aspects of snowboard racing are addressed, including physical conditioning, technical and tactical development, equipment preparation/set up and mental training.

Pro-Am Boardercross (SBX) Add-on: Specific attention is given to each athlete in designing and implementing a realistic competitive schedule to maximize performance and improve points.  Coaches will focus on isolating and enhancing the various skill sets needed to excel in SBX. All aspects of boardercross racing are addressed including elements of freestyle, gate training, physical conditioning, video review, mental preparation, technical ability, tactical development and equipment preparation. Training will include SBX specific on-snow sessions and competition travel, with some Thursday and Friday SBX training sessions. Riders must have SBX-specific equipment. Riders will compete in USASA and NorAm SBX events. U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership and FIS license required for Holeshot Tour and higher events.

Requirements
  • Skill requirement: Advanced riding skills and prior competitive experience required.
  • Equipment: Alpine snowboard equipment and a helmet.
  • Passes: Full IKON and Howelsen Hill pass required.
  • High School Schedule: SSHS athletes must have “0” hour all year, partial skier schedule in fall, full skier schedule in winter.
  • Competition information: Compete in USASA and NorAm/RTTC events.
  • Memberships: A USASA license is required for USASA races. In addition, U.S. Ski & Snowboard and FIS licenses are required for RTTC and higher level events.

Tuesday, 1-2:30 p.m. at Howelsen Gym
Wednesday, 4-6 p.m. at Bald Eagle Lake
Thursday, 1-2:30 p.m. at Howelsen Gym

On-snow: December 2 - April 11
Monday-Friday, 1-4 p.m. at Steamboat Resort or Howelsen Hill
Tuesday, 5-6 p.m. at Howelsen Hill gym

*Residents and non-residents are required to pay an additional $450 refundable work deposit.

  • Scholarships: Resident athletes in competitive year-round programs are eligible for the two-step EZ Competitive Program Scholarship and Winter Program Fee Scholarship. Non-residents are not eligible for EZ Scholarships but may apply for the Winter Program Fee Scholarship. See the chart below for the two-step EZ Competitive Program Scholarship levels.   • Resident Requirements: To be eligible for the resident program fee, athletes must be full-time residents of Routt or Moffat County or full-time participants of SSWSC for two years or more. See the Member Handbook for full details on resident fees. Find the Residency Status Policy HERE.

  • Payment Plan: SSWSC offers multiple payment options for summer, winter, and year-round program fees. Credit cards, eCheck (ACH bank transfer), cash, and checks are all accepted. We also offer a payment plan option. Find more information HERE.

  • Work Deposit Program: SSWSC requires a work deposit for each family. During the registration process, the program fee listed includes the work deposit. Families can earn back the work deposit by volunteering for SSWSC or opt out of volunteering and donate the work deposit to SSWSC. Find more information on the Work Deposit Program HERE.
