All of our summer strength and conditioning programming is designed around developing sound fundamental skills in body movement, kinesthetic awareness, strength, and improving cardiovascular endurance. A summer strength and conditioning program is fundamental in injury prevention, and on snow skills acquisition.
Every one of our SSWSC disciplines, from ages 14 and up, include strength and conditioning as part of their summer offering. While the goal is always to improve fitness, the programs are tailored to the sport specific needs of the discipline and appropriate to the age and physical development of the athlete. Athletes will spend time in our newly remodeled DeHaven Strength Center, outside on the workout pad, on turf, and on the trails on and around Howelsen Hill, as well as the surrounding recreational trails.
In addition to the sports specific opportunities offered to the high school and older athletes, we also offer the following programs:
Recommended for athletes 10-12 years of age who plan to participate in U12 Cross Country, U12 Alpine Racing, U12 Ski Jumping or Nordic Combined, Devo Free, Boardriderz, Junior Ability Snowboard, or AMP.
Recommended for athletes who plan to participate in U14 Cross Country, U14 Alpine Racing, U15 Moguls, Devo Free, U14 Ski Jumping or Nordic Combined, or for athletes born in 2010 or earlier in the following programs: Snowboard Junior Team, Snowboard Junior Ability, Freeski Junior Team.
