Cross Country Cruisers, ages 6-9

This entry-level program is designed for those who wish to explore the enjoyment of recreational skiing and develop fundamental skills in both classic and skate techniques. Skiers learn through games, drills, and fun activities. All sessions meet at Howelsen Hill. Informal competition opportunities are available through the Steamboat Cup Series and the Steamboat Nordic Race Series. No experience is necessary.

Requirements
  • Equipment: Participants need cross country ski equipment which includes no wax classic skis and poles, skate skis and poles, and one pair of Combi boots. Equipment rentals for this program are available through the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. Touring Center Season Rentals will be available starting July 1st. Supplies go quickly so order early!
  • Skill requirement: No experience required.
  • Passes: Youth Nordic Pass to Howelsen Hill required.
  • Age: 6-9 (AGE GROUP GUIDELINES)

  • Payment Plan: SSWSC offers multiple payment options for summer, winter, and year-round program fees. Credit cards, eCheck (ACH bank transfer), cash, and checks are all accepted. We also offer a payment plan option. Find more information HERE.

  • Ride the SSWSC Bus: SSWSC offers after-school bus transportation from Steamboat Springs public schools to Howelsen Hill for SSWSC elementary and middle school athletes, 1st through 8th grades, on their scheduled training days.
