Intro to Bikepacking, 8th grade and up

Intro to Bikepacking (8th grade and up)

This is an add-on program for SSWSC cycling athletes. The program will consist of one planning/practice session and one overnight bikepacking adventure. Learn how to travel with all your necessary overnight gear on your mountain bike.  We will ride on single track, camping in the woods and finishing our ride the following day. We will teach best practice for traveling in the backcountry. Bikepacking is an exciting way to explore the backcountry, and this course will create a foundation for future bikepacking trips. Bike packs, tents, and meals are provided.

Minimum ability requirements: Mountain biking experience and desire for physical and mental challenge.

Minimum equipment requirements: 26”-29” mountain bike with disc brakes, cycling helmet, cycling gloves, sunglasses, water and spare tube, sleeping bag, and backpack.

Beneficial equipment: bike shorts, rain gear, clipless pedals

DATES AND TIMES:

Pre-Trip session: Thursday, July 18 - 4-6 p.m. at Howelsen Hill
Camp Trip: Monday, Tuesday, Aug 5-6
