U16 Athlete Logan Grosidier is the Overall U16 Alpine National Champion
Four SSWSC U16 Alpine Team athletes—Logan Grosdidier, Caley Goforth, Bella Fisher, and Mathew Kafka — qualified to compete in the U16 National Championship in Vail, Colorado, from March 31 to April 4. After a week of racing, Logan Grosdidier emerged as the undisputed victor, taking home gold in all four timed events, Super G, slalom, giant slalom, and the team parallel giant slalom event, and seventh in the SkillsQuest Assessment. Overall, the SSWSC team had a tremendous week, riding on the momentum from the recent triumphs at the U16 Rocky Central Championships.

Under the meticulous organization of the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail team and the dedicated race course crew from Vail Resorts, the week unfolded with a whirlwind of exhilarating events, featuring races in super g, giant slalom, slalom, alongside a rigorous SkillsQuest assessment and a thrilling team parallel competition to cap off the week. Despite the onset of spring, with its warm embrace and golden sunlight, the race courses and venue remained in impeccable condition, a testament to the relentless efforts of the organizers and staff.

SSWSC athletes were second-year U16s, and for some, the races were their last races of the season. Caley Goforth carved her way into the top echelons of every race with remarkable consistency, with top 10 finishes in each race. Caley was 9th in Super G, 7th in giant slalom, 8th in slalom, ending up 7th overall. Bella Fisher also radiated confidence with each descent, showcasing unwavering determination that culminated in a commendable 21st-place finish in the slalom. Not to be outdone, Matthew Kafka displayed resilience and grit, overcoming recent challenges to secure a top 15 finish in the slalom, 14th, and an impressive 5th place in the SkillsQuest Assessment, capping off the season on a high note.

Rocky/Central as a region showed tenacity, skill, and fortitude and once again took home the Regions Cup thanks to the hard work and perseverance of all regional athletes competing.
