Snowboard Cross Team kicks off NorAm season in Waterville

The SBX Team headed East to Waterville, New Hampshire, during the first week of December to kick off the training and competition season alongside the US Snowboard Team. With the Milan Cortina Games approaching, the US Team was looking for one last training opportunity at home before kicking off the World Cup season in Europe. It was a great opportunity for the SSWSC crew to get to train alongside some of the best athletes in the world - not only to watch how they operate on track, but also to pick up a few pointers from the athletes themselves. Ethan Deters got a few notes from fellow Michigander, and Olympic Gold Medalist, Nick Baumgartner, while Brady Burton got some razzing from US Team Athlete Jake Vedder for not taking better care of his boards (Burton rides one of Vedder's past race boards).

Alpine U16 Loveland Fall Camps

The U16 Alpine team has been firing on all cylinders these past few weekends, taking full advantage of prime on-snow training at Loveland Valley. Huge thanks to Loveland Ski Club for their outstanding snowmaking and for creating an ideal venue for teams to sharpen their slalom fundamentals and gate work. The U16 athletes have made the most of it, showing impressive progress, strong focus, and intentional effort every session.

Snowboard Team kicks off the season with a trip to the Woodward Copper Barn

25 athletes from our Devo Team, Jr Team, and Big Mountain programs headed to The Barn at Woodward Copper for an early-season team trip. We booked a private party which not only kept costs lower for families, but included our own dedicated Woodward coach. Woodward Coach Caleb led our Devo Team athletes through a backflip progression — showing firsthand how we can break down intimidating and scary tasks into simple, achievable steps.

Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined Athletes Soar at Annual Mini-Camp

The ski jumping and nordic combined program wrapped up its summer/fall training season with a high-flying finale: the Annual Mini-Camp held October 16–19 at Howelsen Hill. This four-day camp brought together nearly 50 enthusiastic athletes from Steamboat Springs and our friends at the Park City Ski & Snowboard Club for an unforgettable experience filled with skill-building, camaraderie, and fun.

High School Mountain Bike Team Captures D1 State Championship Title

The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team captured the Colorado High School Cycling League Division 1 State Championship on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, at the Spring Valley Scramble, hosted at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs. Freshman and Junior Varsity categories raced on Saturday, and Sophomore and Varsity categories raced on Sunday. A total of 906 riders from four regions raced in the State Championships, 29 from Steamboat. In addition to bringing home the first D1 title in the program’s history, the team also had five podium finishes (top 5) and 13 top 20 finishes.

Youth Skills Quest Field Day 2025

All ages of our youth programming in multiple disciplines participated in a youth skills quest day on Wednesday, October 17. Nearly 70 participants and over 20 coaches helped make the event a success. Athletes rotated through the seven skills quest fitness stations to challenge themselves before getting on the snow this winter. Each station was eight minutes, where they put themselves through a test of agility, strength, speed, and endurance.
