High School Mountain Bike Team Captures D1 State Championship Title

The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team captured the Colorado High School Cycling League Division 1 State Championship on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, at the Spring Valley Scramble, hosted at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs. Freshman and Junior Varsity categories raced on Saturday, and Sophomore and Varsity categories raced on Sunday. A total of 906 riders from four regions raced in the State Championships, 29 from Steamboat. In addition to bringing home the first D1 title in the program’s history, the team also had five podium finishes (top 5) and 13 top 20 finishes.

Youth Skills Quest Field Day 2025

All ages of our youth programming in multiple disciplines participated in a youth skills quest day on Wednesday, October 17. Nearly 70 participants and over 20 coaches helped make the event a success. Athletes rotated through the seven skills quest fitness stations to challenge themselves before getting on the snow this winter. Each station was eight minutes, where they put themselves through a test of agility, strength, speed, and endurance.

Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Athletes Shine at Norge Ski Club Jumptoberfest

Ski jumping and nordic combined athletes and three coaches made the trip to Fox River Grove, Illinois, to compete at the historic Norge Ski Club — and they didn’t disappoint! A total of 21 SSWSC athletes took part in the event, facing off against top competitors from around the region. Along with the ski jumping competition, the team also tackled a roller ski race, where the Steamboat crew absolutely crushed the course, showing off their endurance and speed.

Snowboard and Freeski Athletes Kickoff Season Utah Olympic Park

Snowboard and Freeride Freeski partnered up to truly kick off the season by heading to Park City, UT for training sessions at the Utah Olympic Park and US Ski & Snowboard Center of Excellence. While the snow may still be a few weeks away from piling up, SSWSC was able to take advantage of the dry slope airbag facility up at the UOP. At 50' wide and almost 300' long, the airbag allows athletes not only to revisit and work on slopestyle jumping fundamentals but also to attempt new or 'stretch' tricks before the winter gets underway.

Steamboat High School MTB Team Secures Third Consecutive Victory at Eagle’s Haymaker Classic

The Steamboat Springs High School Mountain Bike Team powered through the Colorado League’s third race of the season on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at the Haymaker Classic in Eagle. Four hundred fifteen riders competed on a challenging 6-mile course featuring 600 feet of climbing, winding berms, and a fast slalom descent. Varsity riders raced three laps, with all other categories racing two laps. Steamboat earned its third straight Division 1 team win, edging Boulder by just 54 points. In an exciting competition that wasn’t decided until the last lap of the last race, Steamboat tallied 7,563 points with 15 riders finishing inside the top 10 of their respective categories.

High School Mountain Bike Team Makes the Most of Home Trail Advantage at Steamboat Race

The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike team once again dominated the Yampa Division during the Showdown in the Boat on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on Emerald Mountain at Howelsen Hill. 38 athletes competed for Steamboat with 368 racers total in the Yampa Division, and the team defended their home trails with their second Division 1 win of the year, 10 top-three finishes, and 20 top-ten finishes.
