Freeride Freeskiing Seasonal Coach
SSWSC is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly respected Freeride Freeskiing Coach to help lead the organization’s freeride athletes and support consistent program delivery across the department. This coach will guide technical development of athletes and foster a team-oriented culture.
The ideal candidate is a strong skier with deep freeride expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work within a team. This role works closely with the Freeride Freeskiing Program Director and represents SSWSC culture, mission, and values in all aspects of coaching and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Freeride Freeski Coach and support the Head Coach Program and Director in delivering a successful program.
- Execute a technical progression appropriate to freeride disciplines.
- Assist in the management of primary training group needs, including: athlete equipment ordering, setup, and maintenance; competition calendars; training video review and uploads; attendance tracking and incident reporting.
- Assist with building and maintaining venues such as: Howelsen Hill terrain park; airbag site; other training environments.
- Participate in athlete goal setting and evaluations.
- Maintain positive relationships with SSWSC staff, Steamboat Ski Resort, and City of Steamboat Springs.
- Communicate professionally using SSWSC communication tools.
- Collaborate with Sports Performance staff to monitor injury trends and attend all scheduled strength sessions.
- Attend all required staff training and meetings.
- Enforce the athlete code of conduct and support disciplinary processes when needed.

- Assist with primary training group needs including but not limited to athlete equipment ordering, setup and maintenance, athlete competition calendars, recording and reviewing training video with athletes, maintaining team Google
- Calendars, updating training attendance, and submitting incident reports as necessary.
- Collaborate with coaches regarding preseason goal setting, and mid-season and end-of-season evaluations for athletes.
