August in Review: Freeride Freeski Team Update

The Freeride Freeski Team had quite a bit going on in August. Eight athletes headed to the Utah Olympic Park for three days of ramp and airbag sessions, with progression all over the place from first spins and flips to Banks Ward stomping his first double cork 720. To close out summer, local legend Will Berman hosted the team at Bald Eagle Lake, joined by pros Alex Ferreira, Bobby Brown, Birk Irving, and Broby Leeds for the rowdiest ramp competition coaches have seen. Skateboard Program End-of-Season BBQ

The Skateboard Program brought together all four programs for an end-of-season BBQ at the Howelsen Hill Skatepark. Long gone are the days of "Skateboarding is a Crime," when kids had to hunt for places to skate without trouble - the city-built and maintained city park was as welcoming to our 5-year-old athletes as it was to the parents in attendance brave enough to step back onto their boards. Between athletes, parents, siblings, and coaches, SSWSC had over 45 people in attendance and truly took over the skate park for an end-of-summer shred session. We are grateful for the wide variety of people the Skate Program brings together, and look forward to next summer of skating and progression.

The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team hosted a hugely successful bike wash fundraiser at last weekend's Emerald Mountain Epic, and the team's hard work paid off.
