U16 Alpine Athletes Show Strength and Consistency at Sync Cup Finals in Winter Park

March 20-22, the U16 Alpine Team Steam traveled to Winter Park for the SYNC Cup Finals, closing out the season with a competitive and exciting series of races. The girls showed impressive consistency throughout the weekend, a testament to their hard work and resilience after a long season. The men dominated the final race of the weekend, sweeping the podium in Slalom with an outstanding performance and a 2nd place in super G.

TeamSteam Powers Through Tough Conditions at RQS and Devo Mogul Championships in Arapahoe Basin

The Rocky Mountain Freestyle RQS Series and Devo Series Mogul Championships were held at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area from March 12–15. Despite grueling weather conditions that tested not only the athletes but also the dedicated spectators and parents, Team Steam delivered an impressive finish to the season. Christopher Bernitt came in 1st place in RQS M13 singles and 2nd place in RQS duals.

Freeride Team Takes On IFSA A-Basin and Ferrell and Rozwadowski Finish on the Podium

Freeride athletes made the trip to the Arapahoe Basin IFSA 2★, held March 16–17, 2026, taking on A-Basin’s steep, technical terrain against a deep Rocky Mountain field. Leading the way was Reagan Farrell, who charged to a strong 2nd-place finish in the U15 Women’s division, showcasing confident line choice and control on the demanding face. In the U15 Men’s field, Jackson Rozwadowski landed on the podium with 3rd place.

Freeride athletes traveled to compete at the IFSA events at Taos Ski Valley, held March 10–13, 2026, in challenging and thin snow conditions. At the Taos 2 on March 10, the team delivered some great results, highlighted by Zoe Chase, who claimed 1st place in the U19 Women’s division.

U12 Alpine Athletes Celebrate Focus and Commitment at Championships

U12 Alpine athletes celebrated their focus and commitment to training all season with a fun and festive weekend of ski racing at the RMD U12 Alpine Championships at Powderhorn Mountain Resort March 14-15. Under sunny skies and with springlike conditions, athletes embraced the slalom and giant slalom weekend of competitions with smiles and courage.

Junior Snowboard Team Gains Racing Experience and Team Bonding at Buttermilk USASA

Five athletes from the Junior Snowboard Team traveled to Buttermilk Ski Area for their first ever team travel experience, joining coach Mick Dierdorff, a 2022 Winter Olympian in boardercross. The group competed in two days of racing. Most of the athletes were already in strong positions to qualify for National Championships, so they opted in to the weekend to gain more boardercross experience and continue developing their head-to-head racing skills.

Steamboat Athletes and Rocky Mountain Division Dominate 2026 Junior Championships

The 2026 Junior Championships for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined concluded on a high note last week in Steamboat Springs, as the Rocky Mountain Division (RMD) successfully hosted the event despite rapidly deteriorating snow conditions. Fielding a team of 19 (23 qualified) athletes, all from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, RMD delivered an exceptional performance on home snow. The team captured 16 of the 37 medals awarded, including an impressive 11 of 14 gold medals.

Freeski Team Shines at USASA Competitions at Home in Steamboat

The Steamboat Freeski Team competed in three USASA competitions at Steamboat last weekend, March 7–8. The halfpipe competition was on Saturday during the day with a Rail Jam under the lights on Saturday night. Sunday was the slopestyle competition. Athletes brought home multiple podiums on their home mountain.

Rocky/Central U16 Junior Championships Wraps Up Eight Athletes Qualify for National Championships

SSWSC hosted the Rocky/Central U16 Championships last week from March 4-8, highlighting SSWSC’s commitment to athletic excellence, teamwork, and community involvement. Months of planning by staff, along with significant contributions from parent volunteers, race crew, and community members, to welcome over 105 athletes and their families to Steamboat and ensure the successful execution of the event. After multiple podium performances over the weekend eight Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes were named to the Rocky/Central National Team, Rylee Thomsen, Caroline Kristoff-Brown, Ella Orton, Owen Applequist, Reed Pope, Jonathan Nichols, Ryder Roth and Felix Hadley.

Steamboat Moguls Team Wraps Rocky Mountain Freestyle Season at Divisional Championships

Thirteen SSWSC moguls athletes qualified for the 2026 Freestyle Moguls Junior Nationals at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah, March 16–22, where they will compete for U15, U17 and U19 junior national titles in moguls and dual moguls.<br /> Women qualifiers include Finley Fontaine, Anouk Bradley, Lyllah Miller, Sydney Soard, Kensie Ricketts, Lucy Gray and Gigi Lobeck. Men qualifying are Griffin Harvey, Henry Crump, Cole Anderson, Aiden Kottcamp, Max Marrs and Archer Glaskin. Soard and Lobeck also qualified for the U.S. Moguls Freestyle Championships at Palisades Tahoe, March 27–29.
