TeamSteam spent their MLK weekend at Aspen Highlands, attacking the steep and icy Thunderbowl Mogul Course. Hit with rain over the New Year and then cold temperatures, the usually challenging course was even more challenging this season with a rock solid top air landing that required pick axes and chain saws to break through the ice. Knowing everyone has to ski the same course, SSWSC athletes kept their focus, took their skiing back to basics, and achieved some strong results.
In men’s singles, Cole Anderson matched his highest finish to date, 7th place, especially impressive after falling in his first run and skiing at the end of the run order for his second run. Griffin Harvey had his highest finish to date, placing 11th. Archer Glaskin was 26th, Henry Crump 27th, Max Marrs 30th, Aiden Kottcamp 31st and Abe Brown 34th.
For the ladies, Sydney Soard was the top for TeamSteam, placing 7th. Lyllah Miller had her best finish to date, earning 10th. Anouk Bradley was 12th, Gigi Lobeck 18th, Kensie Ricketts 19th, Lucy Grey 29th, Finley Fontaine 30th, Grace Mac 36th and Ciara Flanagan 37th.
In duals, TeamSteam had 3 athletes with career high finishes-Gigi Lobeck in 6th, Lyllah Miller in 8th and Cole Anderson in 6th.
The coaches were really impressed with the perseverance and grit all of our athletes showed, taking on the intimidating course and walking away with many top to bottom runs. Congrats, TeamSteam!
