Moguls Programs

Steamboat has been a hotbed of freestyle moguls since the inception of the sport, with SSWSC athletes and coaches playing key roles in the development of the sport. The Park Smalley Freestyle Venue at Steamboat Resort provides a dedicated moguls course that is one of the top training and competition venues in North America; SSWSC’s water ramp and trampoline center is the only facility of its kind in Colorado, and SSWSC's strength and conditioning center all combine to provide SSWSC moguls athletes of all ages with world-class training year-round. The age-appropriate mogul course and night skiing at Howelsen Hill give youth athletes easy access to after-school training starting as young as age three, building the foundation for progression in the sport and lifelong love of skiing. The freestyle moguls coaching staff aims to create a world-class training environment that offers programming for young skiers who simply want to challenge themselves to ski proficiently in moguls as well as all over the mountain, up to high school age and post-graduate athletes with World Cup and Olympic aspirations. Fundamental skills for children ages 3-10 are developed in multi-disciplinary programs designed to prepare them for success as moguls, alpine, and freeride/freeski athletes before focusing on a moguls-specific competitive training program starting at age 10. Year-round programming at the high school level includes acrobatic training on trampolines, water ramping, strength and conditioning, and summer on-snow camps.
