Snowboard Mt. Hood Summer Camp Fun

SSWSC hosted it’s first Mt Hood summer camp in over a decade for the snowboard and freeski programs June 22-28. It was equal parts fun, progression, hide-and-seek tag, and Huckleberry Shakes. While there was plenty of time spent working on the basics, more than half the athletes brought new tricks to snow for the first time. The collaboration between the two programs not only supported great athletic development but also helped build some new tight friendships as well.

Coach Maddie Davis grabbed the bull by the horns and was able to get almost all the athletes on the brand-new Wy’east Academy Airbag, which helped some athletes learn new tricks and others put to rest old fears. Coach Dargan Powers stepped up and helped many athletes not only on snow, but also during their longest periods away from home ever.

We are grateful for Parent/Coach Brett Maul for supporting the squad with family style meals almost everyday. We can’t wait to get back to Mt Hood next summer and have already booked lodging for June 2026!
