Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has announced that 13 alumni and current athletes have qualified to compete in the Junior World Championships in their disciplines, Logan Grosidier (alpine), Jeremy Nolting (alpine), Grey Barbier, (cross country), Jason Colby (ski jumping) Sawyer Graves (ski jumping), Arthur Tirone (ski jumping), and Piper Mouttet (ski jumping), Haley Brabec (nordic combined), Ethan Maines (nordic combined), Walker Overstake (snowboarding), Rowan Hanaughan (snowboard), Brionie Wakooli (snowboard), and Tristan Thrasher (biathlon). The Junior World Championships in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, biathlon, and Nordic Combined begin next week in Norway, Italy, and Germany.
“Being named to represent your country at Junior World Championships is a milestone for any athlete and represents years of hard work and dedication. Junior World Championships brings together the best young athletes in the world, and it is where our Steamboat athletes get the first opportunity to find out how they stack up compared to the best athletes from every other nation. Many athletes competing at the event are just a few years away from competing in the Olympics and World Championships, so the level is very high and is a preview of which athletes are up and coming in each sport. We are confident the X athletes representing Steamboat in alpine, cross-country, snowboarding, ski jumping, nordic combined, and biathlon will represent Steamboat and the USA well, and we hope the experience inspires them to pursue their goals for years to come,” said SSWSC Athletic Director Dave Stewart.
