Alpine Team Takes On Water Ramps at Bald Eagle Lake

On Thursday, July 31, the FIS alpine team did something a little different than the usual training. The team took a trip out to the water ramps and trampolines at Bald Eagle Lake, where Moguls Program Director Ann Battelle and a few mogul athletes coached the FIS Vipers to jump off the ramps. The coaches and athletes were incredibly grateful to the moguls’ team for providing the opportunity to work on skills, courage, and out of the play in a way the alpine team isn’t as accustomed to. Head FIS Coach Chad Wolk was excited to see the athletes who already had some real skills, who could push out of their comfort zone, and most importantly, who could let their hair down and laugh at themselves, and with teammates, and friends.

Coach Chad said he was super proud of Hazel, Abby, Lachlan, Koda, Sky, Wilson, and himself for getting out there and going for it! We saw 360’s, backflips, lost skis, face flops, back flops, and a few of the mogul crew attempting double backflips (Coach Chad tried a backflip too and it did not go well, thump – CHECK OUT THE VIDEO). The team had a few more athletes pushing themselves on the tramps including Rewani, Naia, Molly, Kat, and Matthew playing add-on and improving their skills. Coaches Joe and Noah were taking the action in and serving up burgers, brats, and chips to finish off the festivities. The team enjoyed each other’s company, the encouraging atmosphere, and the willingness to try something new.

The coaches are sure the team will be back later this fall!
