Join SSWSC every Wednesday from 4-6 p.m., January 6 through March 17, for the Steamboat Cup, a FREE, fun, and introductory-level competition series for kids ages 7-13 at Howelsen Hill.
Each week offers a new chance to try competing in events like alpine duals, moguls, ski jumping, freeride, and cross country, all in a welcoming, low-pressure environment designed to encourage confidence and a love of the sport.
- WHEN: Wednesdays, January 6 through March 17, 2027
- TIME: 4–6 p.m. (bib pickup starting at 3:30 p.m.)
- COST: Free (online pre-registration required).
- WHO: Open to all kids ages 7–13. Do not need to be enrolled in a SSWSC program. Open to all kids in the community.
- LIFT ACCESS: Howelsen Hill lift ticket or season pass needed. Special $15 Howelsen Hill ticket available the day of the event for participants.
All events are held at Howelsen Hill Ski Area. The Steamboat Cup Series is hosted by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
Registration Information
All participants must register in advance. Registration is free, but participants will need a season pass or lift ticket, purchased separately at Howelsen Hill. Reduced price lift tickets at $15 for the race day are offered to participants without passes. Event registration opens two weeks before each event and closes at 4 p.m. the day before the event — there is no on-site registration.
Event Schedule
Bib pickup for all events is between 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. at Howelsen Hill. Participants should be in their gear and ready to go by 4:15 p.m. Generally, the events are done by 6 p.m., though Hitchens Brothers Ski Jumping events run longer. Check the event webpage for additional schedule details for each event. An email will be sent to all registered participants with specifics the night before the event.
