Despite the interesting start to the winter, Winter Park was able to build a mogul course in early December and hosted the first event of the season from January 2–4. As the weekend progressed, SSWSC athletes continued to push themselves, became more comfortable with their jumps, and found their mogul rhythm. TeamSteam delivered strong performances and solid results.
In single moguls, Sydney Soard placed 13th, Gigi Lobeck 15th, Anouk Bradley 17th, Lyllah Miller 19th, Finley Fontaine 22nd, Kensie Ricketts 27th, Lucy Gray 30th, and Ella Colon 33rd. On the men’s side, Cole Anderson finished 20th, Griffin Harvey 23rd, Archer Glaskin 35th, Henry Crump 38th, Aiden Kottcamp 42nd, and Max Marrs 44th. In duals, Cole Anderson earned his best finish to date with a 7th-place result, while Gigi Lobeck opened her duals season with an 8th-place finish.
The athletes then traveled to Vail from January 8–11, where results continued to improve. On the steep, icy Dark Side course, athletes were forced to ski aggressively to stay upright through the 32-degree landing on the bottom air. Sydney Soard rose to the challenge, earning her best Rocky Mountain result with 6th-place finishes in both singles events and 2nd place in duals. Cole Anderson finished 7th in duals, and Griffin Harvey recorded a career-best 13th in singles.
The team is now headed to Aspen for MLK weekend. After training on the icy bumps at Howelsen Hill, the athletes are prepared to take on Thunderbowl.
