Maddy Schaffrick cheers on Steamboat athletes and USASA Halfpipe event in Steamboat.

Local athletes had a special guest cheering them on at the recent at-home USASA Halfpipe event, as hometown Olympian Maddy Schaffrick stopped by to support the next generation of riders. Fresh off competing in halfpipe at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Schaffrick spent the morning signing autographs, taking photos, and sharing stories from her journey to the Olympic stage.

She offered words of encouragement at the top of the pipe before athletes dropped for their competition run. As the event wrapped up, Maddy passed out the medals to every athlete who earned a spot on the podium. Her presence added an extra layer of excitement to the competition and gave young athletes a chance to celebrate the sport alongside someone who has reached its highest level.
