The Youth Mountain Bike Program is a three-week program is for kids with an interest in learning more about mountain biking, participating in group rides, and developing safe riding skills in a fun environment. The program takes place primarily on trails around Steamboat including Spring Creek, Emerald Mountain, and Bear River Bike Park. Fundamental skills are taught that can be applied to all aspects of cycling. Groups will be organized by age and ability. Groups meet at Howelsen Hill.
Session 1: Tuesday and Thursday, June 9-25, 8:15-11:15 a.m.
Session 2: Tuesday and Thursday, July 7-23, 8:15-11:15 a.m.
Skill Requirement
Riders must be able to comfortably ride a two-wheeler on pavement and easy trails.
Must be comfortable using handbrakes, not coaster brakes.
Equipment
A bike with gears and handbrakes, cycling helmet, water bottle, snack, spare tube (make sure it is the same size as your child’s tires). Bike gloves, hydration pack, bike shorts and sunglasses are recommended.
Age Group
6-9 years old, must be 6 years old by August 1, 2026.
