Tony Lodico Promoted to Freeski Program Director

We are thrilled to announce that Tony Lodico has been promoted from Head Devo Freeski Coach to Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Freeski Program Director. Tony is a thoughtful and responsive leader who has truly listened to our freeski community over the years to deliver programs and coaching that fit Steamboat. For many years, he has been respected and trusted by coaches, athletes, and parents at SSWSC, and he is well-prepared to continue moving the program forward as the sport continues to evolve. We are all lucky that Tony has chosen to invest his time, energy, and talents in the community through SSWSC.

Tony has been working in youth outdoor education since 1993. He started working on snow in 2000 and with the SSWSC in 2004. He grew up in western New York, where he first stepped into a halfpipe in 1994 and slid his first rail in 1999. Since then, he has also worked as a sailing, surfing, bodysurfing, sea kayaking, and adventure learning instructor. During the 2010s, Tony was regularly invited to join the US Freeskiing staff at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) gold camps, served on the Freeskiing Sport Committee, and the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) Board of Directors. During the summers, Tony has spent time as the assistant director for the New York State Sheriffs’ Association (NYSSA) summer camp for at-risk youth, along with strength, trampoline, and water ramp programming in Steamboat Springs.

Tony stepped away from snow for two seasons to sail the eastern seaboard of the US and then spend time in Australia working as a lifesaver and coaching in the Sunshine Beach Surf Sports Nippers program. Returning to Steamboat as the U13 Devo Freeskiing Head Coach in January of 2024 he took on supporting all Freeskiing/Freeride education within the SSWSC from U8 through to High School programing, he is currently a member of the the U.S Ski & Snowboard National Faculty, and is the Rocky region representative to the USSS Freeskiing sport committee.

Please join us in congratulating Tony.
