The Senior Mountain Bike Team had an awesome team training camp in Crested Butte, July 20-24, packing in the miles and challenging themselves on some of Colorado’s most iconic trails. Riders split their time between downhill laps in the bike park and cross country adventures, giving everyone a chance to build new skills, step outside their comfort zones, and try terrain they hadn’t ridden before. From technical descents to big climbs, the team embraced every challenge with great attitudes.
The group checked off some legendary rides throughout the week, including the stunning 401 Trail, iconic Doctor’s Park loop, the demanding climb and rewarding descent on Teocalli Ridge, and the fast, flowing trails of Strand Hill. They also spent an afternoon riding Hartman’s Rocks in Gunnison, where the rock features offered a completely different riding experience. Every ride brought new opportunities to improve, and it was exciting to watch athletes gain confidence and push themselves a little further each day.
The Western Colorado University campus served as basecamp for the week, where athletes got a glimpse of dorm life and dining hall food. One of the biggest hits of the week was the Gunnison Rec Center, where athletes cooled off in the pool and challenged each other on the diving board. It was a fantastic camp filled with hard work, adventure, and team bonding. Everyone came home stronger, more confident, and looking forward to seeing the rewards of their hard work in races this fall.
