The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team hosted a hugely successful bike wash fundraiser at last weekend’s Emerald Mountain Epic, and the team’s hard work paid off. With trail conditions leaving bikes coated with dust and dirt, riders were more than ready for a good scrub, and the team delivered, washing an estimated 150 to 200 bikes over the course of the day. Athletes and parents tackled the extra-dirty conditions all day, and riders coming off the course were quick to express their appreciation.
The event wouldn’t have been possible without generous community support. The Amble continued their incredible support of the team and stepped up in a big way, matching donations made at the wash and helping fuel the program’s fundraising efforts. Slick Chain donated bike wash solution, brushes, and chain lube, and even sent staff to spend the day washing bikes alongside the team.
