Snowboard Big Mountain Head Coach

  • Period: September 2026 - April 2027 (Seasonal Full Time)
  • Compensation: $23,000 - $28,000

SSWSC is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly respected Snowboard Big Mountain Head Coach to lead the organization’s senior snowboard athletes and support consistent program delivery across the department. This coach will guide technical development, manage training and competition plans, and foster a professional, positive environment both on and off the snow.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep snowboard big mountain expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex logistics in a fast-paced environment. This role works closely with the Snowboard Program Director and represents SSWSC culture, mission, and values in all aspects of coaching and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Head Coach and support the Program Director in overall program management.
  • Develop a healthy travel plan for the coaching team, fostering an energized and engaged coach staff.
  • Develop and execute a technical progression appropriate to snowboard freestyle disciplines.
  • Manage primary training group needs, including:
    – Athlete equipment ordering, setup, and maintenance
    – Balance training competition and training travel
    – Competition calendars
    – Training video review and uploads
    – Google Calendar updates
    – Attendance tracking and incident reporting
  • Assist with building and maintaining venues such as needed.
  • Develop training and competition plans aligned with club mission and athlete goals, based on sound periodization and science-based principles.
  • Lead goal setting and athlete evaluations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with SSWSC staff, Steamboat Ski Resort, and City of Steamboat Springs.
  • Communicate professionally using SSWSC communication tools.
  • Mentor development coaches and athletes.
  • Collaborate with Sports Performance staff to monitor injury trends and attend all scheduled strength sessions.
  • Attend all required staff training and meetings.
  • Enforce the athlete code of conduct and support disciplinary processes when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by program leadership.
