Moose’s Loose Golf Tournament

47th Annual Moose’s Loose Golf Tournament

The 47th Annual Moose’s Loose Golf Tournament in memory of Moose Barrows was held on September 16 at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club. The Moose’s Loose Golf Tournament is Steamboat’s longest-held golf tournament, now hosted in memory of Olympian Moose Barrows. All proceeds from the tournament go to the Moose Barrows Athletic Achievement Scholarships at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

Thank You 2026 Golfers and Supporters

Thank you for being part of the 47th Moose’s Loose Annual Golf Tournament! Whether you played a round, sponsored a hole, joined us for the happy hour, donated, volunteered, or simply came out to enjoy the day, you helped make this year’s event such a success.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the tournament raised approximately $37,000 to support SSWSC athletes through this year’s scholarships and the Moose Barrows Athletic Achievement Scholarship Endowment. That support helps provide opportunities for athletes today while building a lasting resource to carry on Moose’s legacy for years to come.

It was especially meaningful to see so many people come together in support of Moose. His impact on the Steamboat community runs deep, and this event is such a special reflection of the lasting mark he has left on generations of athletes, families, and friends. Being able to celebrate that legacy while creating opportunities for the next generation of SSWSC athletes makes this day particularly meaningful.

We’re especially grateful to all of the volunteers who gave their time to help make the day run smoothly, along with everyone who showed up, got involved, and helped make it happen.

Thank you for being part of Moose’s Loose and for helping carry his legacy forward. We truly appreciate this community coming together to make such a meaningful impact.

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Moose Barrows Memorial Scholarship Fund

Supporting young athletes in Steamboat was one of Moose Barrows’ greatest passions. A Steamboat Springs native, Moose relied on the support of the community during his time on the national team. To give future athletes the same opportunity, Moose, along with Paul Thayer and Hank Kashiwa, created a golf tournament to raise scholarship funds for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes.

For 45 years, the tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help young athletes participate in programming, training, travel, and competitions they might not otherwise be able to afford. Moose’s Loose Golf Tournament will continue annually in his honor.

To honor Moose’s legacy, SSWSC, the Barrows family, and Moose’s friends established the Moose Barrows Memorial Scholarship Fund within the SSWSC Endowment.
