High School AIARE 1 Avalanche Certification

High School AIARE 1 Avalanche Certification is for beginner, intermediate, and advanced backcountry riders looking to learn how to travel efficiently and stay safe in the winter mountains. The training will consist of a Friday evening at Howelsen Hill, followed by two full-day field days at local backcountry areas (see schedule below). The certification includes companion rescue, avalanche terrain identification, and managing groups in backcountry areas. This is an American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) accredited course. Participants will develop the skills to contribute to backcountry travel groups and plan for backcountry travel. Program fee includes AIARE 1 certification. Participants must attend and participate in all program sessions to receive AIARE 1 certification.
