U8 2-Day Skiing, ages 6-7 (U8 2D)

Participants in the U8 2-Day Skiing program establish a solid foundation of alpine skiing skills on appropriate terrain and in varying conditions. This two-day-a-week program focuses on fundamental alpine skiing skills, building a solid base, working together as a team, and skiing all appropriate terrain. U8 skiers will ski at both Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Ski Resort. Each child is placed in a group of similar age and ability that stays with the same coach for the entire season to enhance learning and progression.

U8 skiers MUST be 6 years old by December 31, 2024. Register by September 15 to ensure a place in this program.

Requirements
  • Skill Requirement: Some skiing experience that allows for skiing on green and easy blue runs. Must be able to link turns and stop.
  • Equipment: Participants need alpine ski equipment, including a helmet. (No poles to start the season).
  • Passes: Participants must have a full IKON pass and Howelsen Hill alpine pass.
  • Age: 6-7. U8 skiers MUST be 6 years old by December 31, 2024. (AGE GROUP GUIDELINES)
Schedule

December 7 - March 8
Thursdays, 4:15-5:45 p.m. at Howelsen Hill
Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-noon at Steamboat Resort

NOTE: Some training will be held at Howelsen Hill instead of Steamboat Resort.

Saturday December 7 at Howelsen Hill, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 1-3 p.m. (please keep all day open as we won’t assign times until the week before training starts!)
POMA TRAUMA/U8 Fest - January 11 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (times to be confirmed)
Saturday, February 8 - Winter Carnival Nighttime Extravaganza, no daytime training
Saturday, March 8 at Howelsen Hill, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

No Training December 23 - January 5, February 20 or 22.

2024-2025 Program Fee

2024-2025 Program Fee: $1,270 plus $150 refundable work deposit

  • Payment Plan: SSWSC offers multiple payment options for summer, winter, and year-round program fees. Credit cards, eCheck (ACH bank transfer), cash, and checks are all accepted. We also offer a payment plan option. Find more information HERE.

  • Work Deposit Program: SSWSC requires a work deposit for each family. During the registration process, the program fee listed includes the work deposit. Families can earn back the work deposit by volunteering for SSWSC or opt out of volunteering and donate the work deposit to SSWSC. Find more information on the Work Deposit Program HERE.

  • Ride the SSWSC Bus: SSWSC offers after-school bus transportation from Steamboat Springs public schools to Howelsen Hill for SSWSC elementary and middle school athletes, 1st through 8th grades, on their scheduled training days.
