Young Freeski Athletes Take on East Face at Steamboat Ski Resort
January 20-21, 2024 SSWSC hosted the International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) Big Mountain competitions at Steamboat Ski Resort and SSWSC freeski athletes took home every IFSA is the governing organization of Big Mountain competitions for skiers and snowboarders of all ages.

On Saturday, January 20, four girls and ten boys from the SSWSC Devo Freeski program competed in the Steamboat IFSA U12 Big Mountain competition against athletes from around the Rocky Mountain Region on the East Face venue at Steamboat Ski Resort. All the athletes showed courage and strong skiing in fresh snow under bluebird skis. Three of the four girls placed in the top ten, with Eby Hill finishing in 7th place, Mathilda Spaustat 9th, and Olive Roos 10th, thanks to their strong technical skiing through challenging terrain. On the boy’s side, Anderson Agopian finished first thanks to powerful skiing down a technical line with two large drops on the right side of the venue.  Winston Whitten finished a close second with a high-energy run that included three airs on the opposite side of the venue. Jaxson Wright in 4th place, and Jackson Koermer in 7th place rounded out SSWSC athletes in the top ten.
