U16 Alpine Team Tackles All Four Disciplines in a Challenging Two-Week Stretch

In just two action-packed weeks, the U16 alpine team put their versatility to the test, competing in all four primary alpine skiing disciplines. The month kicked off with three days of high-speed racing in Aspen, followed just days later by two Giant Slalom events in Breckenridge, where athletes faced not only steep competition but also brutal temperatures. With frostbite a real concern, the team showed resilience—supporting one another and taking every precaution to stay safe while still delivering top performances. After two grueling GS race days, Molly Fretwell secured a 3rd place finish, and the team walked away with four Top-5 results.
The following weekend, the athletes took on Slalom racing in Eldora, where fresh snowfall added another layer of complexity. As the ruts built up, a shelf formed around the base of the gates, requiring athletes to adapt their tactics and rely on a strong, balanced position and precision to navigate the course. Isabella Konecsny dominated with a Slalom victory, while Molly Fretwell claimed 2nd place in the second race. Naia Broggi had a breakthrough weekend, securing 10th place in the first race—one of her best results to date—before finishing 19th in the second.
On the men’s side, Jonathan Nichols also posted his best season result, finishing 6th in the first Slalom race. The second race saw Schuyler Biglow take 5th while Soren Shepherd (7th), Wilson Walker (8th), Leo Orton (10th), and Felix Hadley (14th), many of which secured personal bests.
From high-speed downhill runs to technical slalom battles, this stretch of races proved both physically and mentally demanding, yet the team rose to the challenge. With a growing list of top finishes and personal bests, the U16 athletes are showing tremendous progress—setting the stage for even bigger accomplishments as the season continues.”
