Cross Country Athlete Tig Loomis Pre-Qualifies for US Junior Nationals

SSWSC’s Antigone (Tig) Loomis pre-qualified for U.S. Junior Nationals with her 8th place finish in the U20 1.3k skate sprint and a 21st place finish in the U20 10k classic race. SSWSC’s Anna Rhodes also had a strong finish, with a 24th place finish in the classic race.
SSWSC alum Benjamin (Grey) Barbier who now skis for Montana State University, was 2nd in the U20 10K classic mass start race, and 4th U20 in the skate sprint. Both results helped qualify him for the number one qualifier for the U.S. on U20 Junior World Championships qualifier list.
Another SSWSC alum, Trey Jones, who skis for the University of Colorado qualified for the U23 World Championships with 3rd place finish in the classic and skate sprint qualifying events.
On the final day of racing in the freestyle skate sprint, Campbell McLaren made the Junior A-final, placing 4th, and Tristan Thrasher made the semi-finals, placing 12th. In the women’s Junior heats, Antigone Loomis placed 5th in her semi-final.
Grace Olexa and Anna Rhodes qualified for the Junior heats but did not advance beyond the quarterfinal round.
The team is currently in Soldier Hollow racing in the Super Qualifier that includes top athletes from the western colleges and all of the Western divisions. It is the largest junior ski race in the country.
The 2025 FIS Nordic Junior/U23 Cross-Country World Ski Championships will take place between February 3 and 9 in Italy.
