Snowboard Athletes Show Up in Force at USASA National Championships in Copper
32 SSWSC snowboard athletes from nearly every program competed across multiple disciplines in the USASA National Championships event at Copper Mountain March 28-April 3, 2025. Team SSWSC finished the week with 42 top-ten finishes including nine podiums. Five athletes were competing in their first National Championships ever. Just about every athlete competed across multiple disciplines.
Milo Matuga and Madden Matuga each took 2nd place for the Overall National Championship Award in their respective age groups. The Overall Award considers an athlete’s results in each of the five disciplines. Milo’s results included a 3rd, 5th, 6th, and two 12ths. Madden’s results included a 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 26th. Milo and Madden showed up every day prepared to give each competition their best effort.
After a jam-packed season on the Alpine Snowboard World Cup, Walker Overstake jumped back into Boardercross. He won time trials by almost 2 seconds and confidently took 1st place in Open Class Men’s SBX.
