Moguls Team Competes in Winter Heat at Winter Park and Anabel Ayad Wins Singles and Duals
TeamSteam spent the weekend in Winter Park the Winter Heat at Winter Park, ripping down Ambush, the FIS-level mogul course, on the face of Winter Park Resort. With warm temps, clouds, sun, wind, and some snow, the athletes rolled with the conditions and focused on what they could control: their skiing!
With an unusual format for Rocky Mountain Freestyle competitions, the athletes had 2, 1-run competitions on Saturday and duals on Sunday. With a different mindset going into the first run, knowing that the result would count and they couldn’t rely on a second run if they made a mistake, the athletes charged and took advantage of an extra points earning opportunity.
Anabel Ayad won the second singles competition with Mia Satkiewicz earning a 9th and 13th over the day and Claire Boyle was 16th and 17th. Liam Siefken earned a 5th place and Shane Mariano was 17th and 12th. Griffin Harvey had a career-high 18th place on one run.
In the duals competition, Anabel Ayad again took the top spot with Claire earning 4th. For the men, Liam Siefken took the bronze medal by taking down his teammate, Shane Mariano, who ended up in 4th.
Some members of TeamSteam are headed to Deer Valley for a NorAm while others are off to Copper.
