Ten Moguls Athletes Take on Top Skiers in the Nation at US Freestyle Nationals

Ten SSWSC moguls athletes qualifyed for U.S. Nationals Mogul Championships at Palisades Tahoe, March 24-March 30 and seized the opportunity to compete against the best in the country. With solid results at Junior Nationals in Park City, Anouk Bradley and Sydney Soard qualified the day before the travel day while Gigi Lobeck had the luxury of learning of her qualification two days before. The other six athletes, Claire Boyle, Mia Satkiewicz, Anabel Ayad, Liam Siefken, Jack Perkins, Shane Mariano and Peyton Billeisen rounded out TeamSteam.

Braving every weather scenario, from 60 degrees and sunny to pouring rain to dumping snow and windy, the athletes adjusted to changing snow conditions and variable vision throughout the week. With a legendary history of Freestyle, Palisades Tahoe’s competition was on the famed Red Dog, a 27 degree, pitch changing yet straight forward, relatively easy mogul course.

In singles, Peyton Billeisen and Anabel Ayad both made finals with Billeisen ending up 14th and Ayad 11th. Liam Siefken narrowly missed the top 16 to make it into finals, finding 19th. Shane Mariano, weathering a broken ski, ended up in 32nd. Mia Satkiewicz placed 31st and Claire Boyle 32nd. Gigi Lobeck and Anouk Bradley, in their first US Nationals, ended in 49th and 50th.

In duals, Billeisen finished in 11th, Siefken 28th, Mariano 33rd, Ayad 14th, Satkiewicz 36th and Boyle 39th.

Congratulations to our mogul athletes on a successful season. Your hard work paid off!
