Anabel Ayad wins Bronze in the Dual Moguls Mixed Team Event at Junior World Championships
The 2025 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships wrapped up last week in Almaty, Kazakhstan, after five days of competition showcasing the future of freestyle skiing with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athlete Anabel Ayad and SSWSC alumnae Abby McLarnon representing the US on the women’s team. The Junior World Championships were held from January 7–11 at Shymbulak Ski Resort.
Ayad’s top-notch skiing at US Selections in December qualified her for the chance of a lifetime to compete in the Freestyle Junior World Championships. Ayad and 11 junior athletes from the USA spent six days in the beautiful mountain of Kazakhstan competing against top junior athletes from around the world to compete in moguls, dual moguls, dual moguls mixed team, aerials, and aerials mixed team events. Ayad skied in the three mogul events and took full advantage of the opportunity, finishing 6th place in single moguls, narrowly missing the podium with a 4th place in dual moguls, and nabbing a bronze medal 3rd place finish in the dual moguls mixed team event with teammate Chase Littlefield.
