GiGi Boyd is back on the Podium in Snowboard Cross
Snowboard cross athlete Virginia (Gigi) Boyd started the competition season right where she left off - back on the NorAm Cup podium. The doubleheader weekend was a great way to kick off the New Year up in BC, Canada, with Sun Peaks hosting an SBX race for the first time. At the first race, Gigi knocked off the competitive rust ,finishing 5th but hungry for more. On day two, she battled through the first few rounds of racing to find herself in the big final with two of her US Snowboard Team teammates, Briana Schnorrbusch and Madeline Lochte-Bono. Gigi took the hole shot, leading the back through the first third of the course, before Bri managed to squeeze by her in one of the courses 9 turns. Coming down the finish line straight, Madeline was able to draft Gigi to close down the 15-foot lead, narrowly beating her in a photo finish. Gigi finished the weekend ranked 3rd overall in the current NorAm Cup standings, and is looking to keep the momentum going as she is set to start her first World Cup later this season.
