Anabel Ayad Earns Second Place Finish in Deer Valley Moguls NorAm Cup

Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club moguls athletes competed in the Deer Valley North American (NorAm) Cup, held February 12-13, 2025. The event took place on the legendary Champion course at Deer Valley Resort, a venue renowned for hosting top-tier events, including the 2002 Olympics, US Nationals, World Cups, and NorAms. The competition also carried special significance as it was held on the same course where SSWSC alum Jaelin Kauf recently won back-to-back World Cup gold medals in singles and duals in early February 2025, inspiring the current athletes to follow in her footsteps.
Three athletes represented SSWSC: Anabel Ayad, Liam Siefken, and Peyton Billeisen. Champion’s challenging conditions included rain, freezing temperatures, snow, and wind, and tested the athletes’ skills. Despite these obstacles, SSWSC athletes displayed impressive performances on the demanding course, with Ayad earning a career-best finish. Ayad tackled Champion with fast and clean skiing, earning a career-best 2nd place in singles and 4th in duals.
It was a special event for both Peyton Billeisen and Liam Siefken. For Siefken, it was his first ever NorAm event, and his hard work paid off, skiing against some of the best skiers in the world, finishing 23rd in singles and 32nd in duals. For Billeisen, a veteran in the sport, it was his first NorAm back from a knee injury two years ago. Peyton skied into the finals, confidence-building run to run. He ended up 13th in singles and 25th in duals.
The athletes are off to Apex Mountain Resort in BC, Canada, February 22-23 for the next stop on the NorAm Cup Tour. Ayad currently ranks number one in the moguls NorAm Cup standings going into the Apex Mountain competition.
