SSWSC FIS skiers Xander Tatar-Brown, Collin Hassel, Ella Walker, Katie McGlaughlin, Zoe Schaab and Anabel Ayad competed in US Selections this past week. With opportunities to both represent the US in the Deer Valley World Cup as well as the NorAm Tour, the athletes were joined by over 100 of the best mogul competitors in the US. Competing on Ambush at Winter Park, the athletes had two single moguls competitions and one dual moguls competition. With limited training due to the warm temperatures, the SSWSC athletes used their mental fortitude to ski their best runs.

Anabel Ayad led the charge, qualifying for finals in both singles events, finishing 14th and 13th overall. Collin Hassel earned 14th and 18th. Xander Tatar-Brown finished strong with a 19th and a 25th. Zoe Schaab competed for the first time with a back flip in her run and stuck it! Katie McGlaughlin and Ella Walker both pushed their limits.

Steamboat Mountain School alum, Avital Shimko Carroll won both singles events, earning herself the start at the Deer Valley World Cup in January.

Next up on the U17/U19 and FIS mogul skiers agenda is the Steamboat Ski Town USA Moguls Competition on Voodoo, January 8 and 9th. U15 mogul skiers head to Vail for the first RQS and DEVO event of the season on January 8 and 9th as well.
