Telemark

Congratulations to the six SSWSC athletes named to the USTSA National Telemark teams! This is an exciting year for the sport of Telemark Skiing; recently, the FIS Council voted to move Telemark Skiing forward to the IOC as a potential new sport for the 2022 Winter Olympics! The council will vote in June, which means these athletes have the potential for making an appearance in the next Olympics! This is exciting news for athletes that have worked so hard in an unofficial sport and who have worked hard to move the sport forward! Congratulations to the follow athletes who are on the teams:

Freeskiing

June has been a busy month for the Freeskiing Crew with lots of time spent at the Bald Eagle Lake water ramp and tramp facility.  This week we saw the end of our Intro to Ramping session on Monday, with the next generation of athletes getting comfortable in our summer training home.  The intro to water ramping group spent time learning how to bounce, ski on plastic, and roll around on the tumbling mats.  We will still be offering the U10 group for any interested Athletes who might have missed the intro session but still think it may be fun to get wet on these hot summer days.  The Intro, u10 and u13 programs are a great way for young athletes interested in Moguls, Park, Pipe or Big Mountain to scratch that air itch over the summer,  it’s also great cross training for all of our sliding sport kids.
