The USASA Slopestyle was held in Copper this last Sunday (Jan 8). It was our first slopestyle contest of the year so it was fun to get all the kids out there together, laying down the tricks they’ve been working on here at Howelsen and at Steamboat Resort. They all rode so well and we had a great time. Here are the results of our athletes:

Freeskiing
The SSWSC Freeskiing Team kicked off our Slopestyle season over the weekend at Copper Mountain.  The weather was very cooperative in a week of extremes allowing for great skiing and landing some new competitive runs.  The team was lead by Kai Doyle who only had time for one run, along with Liam Baxter and Tim Kastelijns) before jumping a plane to the east coast for the first Rev tour of the season.  Kai landed a 3rd place run knowing it was a one and done situation.
  Unfortunately during a training lap outside of the venue Will Gossman suffered and upper arm injury that looks to keep him on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.  We hope to see him healthy again soon.

Freestyle
This weekend we had our first Freestyle event of the Rocky Mountain Series! This was a qualifier event for Junior Nationals, and our athletes did an INCREDIBLE job! Please see below result and some photos from this weeks Steamboat Rocky Mountain Open Moguls Competition. Its was a very successful event the SSWSC with both veterans and first time Rocky skiers putting down some great top to bottom runs in competition.
