US Nationals- Aspen Highlands
Garrett Driller, SSWSC U16/FIS Coach Athlete finished as the 3rd place Overall Finisher in the Men’s Slalom at US Nationals! He was followed by SSWSC junior athlete Cooper Puckett who finished 13th place overall. In the Men’s SG- Jay Poulter climbed all the way up to 15th place overall, he was followed closely behind by teammates Cooper Puckett (18th) and Jordan Simon (20th). Cooper and Jay each followed their SG runs with strong SL runs. Cooper moved up to 10th place overall in the Super Combined standings and 2nd place in the Junior classification, earning him a podium spot! Poulter ended up 13th overall in the Super Combined after the slalom leg. The Men’s and Women’s US Nationals Downhill races will take place tomorrow followed by the remainder of the Women’s races next week.

U16 and U14
At the inaugural Cambell Sullivan Cup Race April 1st and 2nd, formerly known as the GS Spectacular, Abby Olson had a great day finishing 2nd and 4th place overall in a field which included FIS racers. Teammates Noelle Roth and Logan Grosdidier also landed top finishes. Logan finished 8th and 11th place overall and Noelle Roth had a 10th place finish. For the 2nd day of racing, it was the boys turn. Jeremy Nolting earned a 3rd and a 4th place finish. Thomas Mennen also had a podium finish with a 2nd. Ian Haupt earned himself a 4th place finish. Alex Orozco had a 5th and an 10th place finish. And Roman Elvidge had an 7th place finish.

The last races of the season for the U16 and U14 athletes is always the Loveland Derby. The SSWSC ladies raced slalom this Thursday and Noelle Roth climbed to the top step of the podium in the 2nd of 2 races taking the win! Noelle also finished 2nd place in the 1st race. Abby Olson again showed her competitiveness amongst the older skiers by finishing in 5th and 7th place overall and as the top U14 finisher in both races.

Next up, the highest ranked U14 and U16 athletes from the Rocky/Central Regional Championships are headed to Breckenridge April 10-13 for a Regional Training Project. This regional training project replaces the cancelled U16 National Championships.
