Steamboat High School Mountain Bike team took home seven podium finishes from freshman to varsity, and the team was again 1st place in Division 2 at the second race in The Colorado High School Cycling League race series Showdown in the Boat on Saturday, September 9 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team is facilitated by Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. A total of 34 racers from Steamboat High School and Steamboat Mountain School raced on Saturday.

The weekend started on Friday morning with the team volunteers helping to build the course. SSWSC and The Colorado League would like to thank all the volunteers who came to help. The hard work shines in the high quality of the venue here in Steamboat!

The freshman boys raced first on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. The weather started out perfectly with sunshine and cool temperatures. The five racers, Oscar Libin (7th), Rowen Hanaughan (10th), Schuyler Biglow (11th), Leo Orton (21st), and Jackson Rosencrantz (29th), all had great races. There was a little tangle in the start that resulted in a small crash, but all our racers were fine and continued the race. Biglow had a great performance, starting at the back of the pack and passing over 30 other racers.

The next race was junior varsity, sophomore, and freshman girls. Anna Rhodes took the win for the junior varsity girls! Sophomore girls were represented by Anna Boness (17th), Whitney Warnke took the win for the freshman girls, and Allie Reznicek (9th), Aleida Richter (15th), and Lindsay Berke (16th) all finished the freshman race strong.

Aidan Haack won varsity boys, Thomas Miller (13th), Primo Famiglietti (18th), Kyan Strong (21st), Curtis Zanni (30th), and Jace Rebesa (36th). Mary McLarnon won the varsity girls, Eva Minotto (2nd), Wren Capra (7th), Jesse Weaver (8th), Abby Olson (15h), and Liz Lipscomb (16th). Haack led for the majority of the race, and McLarnon and Minotto took 1st and 2nd, and they held the lead for the whole race; they are both sophomores racing Varsity.

Sophomore boys were represented by Luke Bedell (4th), Thomas Agosta (10th), Masson Kemp (22nd), Elliot Nance (35th), Jackson Sloop (42nd), and Nate Freer (71st).
