ALPINE

For the first time in over 2 years there will be a U18 National Championship (16-17 year olds), to be held in Vail, Colorado March 1-7. This event only had 18 total quota spots to qualify in our region (Rocky/Central), which made this event very difficult to qualify.

Our club qualified 7 men & 6 women for this year’s U18 National Championships! All of our athletes have worked hard this season and this is a testament to that hard work.

ALPINE MINI MEISTERS

Alpine Mini Meisters rode the chairlift for the first time last week, with one coach per athlete to help ensure they made their first chairlift ride safely! Great job, Mini Meisters!

Cross Country

Rocky Mountain Nordic Clubs gathered at the Frisco Nordic Center over the weekend for two days of racing. The events were part of the RMN JNQ Series and were the 5th and 6th of the season’s races. A Classic Sprint was held on Saturday and SSWSC XC athletes impressed. The Bishop Sisters, Georgia (U12) and Beatrice (U10) both won the Final A Heat. Their brother Forrest, finished second in the U8 final.
Trey Jones, won the opening Qualifier and proceeded to win each of the following heats to finish first overall in the U18/20M division. Henry Magill followed the same successful path in the U16M division. Nikita Andre advanced to the U16F Final, finishing 6th overall on the day. Charlie Wiedel took 4th place in the U14M A Final. Annika Wiedel captured 4th place in the U10F A Final.

Sunday’s race was competed in the Freestyle Mass Start Format. SSWSC XC U18/20 male athletes showed their prowess, with Trey Jones finding his highest gear, taking the win, Griff Rillos lunged for second. Thomas Cooper skied to a strong 7th place, followed by Grey Barbier in 8th. Henry Magill doubled up with another convincing wing in the U16 male race. Teammates Campbell McLaren finished 6th, Tristan Thrasher 7th, Luke Bedell 26th, in the U16 male race.
Top finisher in the U18/20 female 8k race was Tinsley Wilkinson in 11th, followed by Heidi Andre in 12th, Ruby May in 16th, Suzy Magill in 17th, and Charley Lodwick in 19th.
The U16 females raced 5k and SSWSC XC finishers included: Kiri May 5th place, Nikita Andre 6th place, Grace Olexa 9th place, Anna Rhodes 12th place, Alena Rossi 24th place
Charlie Wiedel skied to an impressive 2nd place in the U14 male 3k race. Quinn Dressen 14th place, Colin Clark 17th, Braden Fleming 22nd, Lynx Beauregard 24th, Henry Patten 25th
Top SSWSC XC finisher in the U14 female race was Shea Rossi, finishing 7th, followed up with, Shea Sias 13th, Davis Brosterhous 14th, Leah Miller 18th
U12 boys 3k race saw SSWSC XC athletes produce strong finishes: Conor Devin 6th place, Bode Rhodes 7th place, Sawyer Landers 8th place, Fisher Beauregard 12th place, Reid Graham 20th place
Georgia Bishop extended her RMN winning streak, taking the U12 female race. Other U12F finishers were- Maren Sachs 12th place, Klara Novotny 18th place
Beatrice Bishop won the U10F race in dramatic fashion, out lunging her competition for the win. Annika Wiedel sked to an impressive 3rd place
In the boy’s U8 race, Axel Loomis came 2nd and Forrest Bishop third
